Policies and Procedures

"Compliance" can sound intimidating, we know. Rest assured that it's synonymous with "access, safety and belonging." This page lays out the different categories of compliance that we cover and the related policies and procedures for each.

Reporting Options and Resources

Your obligations to report prohibited conduct may vary depending on the circumstances and your role within the University, but you have options on what steps to take if you decide to file a report. Learn more about reporting options or select one of the options at the top of this page to file a report directly. WVU NON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT

West Virginia University does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, marital or family status, pregnancy, veteran status, service in the uniformed services (as defined in state and federal law), religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, genetic information, gender identity, or gender expression in the administration of any of its educational programs, activities, or with respect to admission or employment.

In keeping with this commitment, members of the academic community are expected to demonstrate civility and mutual respect for all persons as well as understanding and appreciation for all persons, to express that perspective in every dimension of the institution’s life and mission, and to work cooperatively, representing not only the interests of their own groups but also those of the wider community.

COMPLAINT AND INVESTIGATION PROCESS

The complaint and investigation process depends on whether you are a student or non-student at WVU and outlines guidelines and procedures for all reports of discrimination, harassment, sexual and domestic misconduct, stalking, and other Code of Conduct violations. Here is a brief guide to help explain the University’s procedures for addressing behavior that is prohibited under Board of Governor's Rule 1.6 and to make the resolution process more transparent. Please select a page below to read its full process.

These processes apply to all WVU campuses, including Morgantown, Beckley and Keyser. If at any point you have questions about the complaint and investigation process, please reach out to the Division of Campus Engagement and Compliance at 304-293-5600.
