About the Division

The Division of Campus Engagement and Compliance ensures the university fulfills the needs of our campus community while adhering to federal and state guidelines. Our work focuses primarily on Titles VI, VII and IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act and youth protection.

Our Vision and Role

West Virginia University strives to foster a welcoming, supportive environment for all students, faculty, staff and visitors.

The Division's work includes:

  • Developing programming focused on Titles VI, VII and IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act and youth protection
  • Developing advocates through training, presentations and facilitated dialogues
  • Educating about the prevention of sexual violence, power-based personal violence, and harassment
  • Supporting campus and community partners in complying various federal, state and institutional laws and policies 
  • Collaborating with others on campus to understand campus climate, track changes based on our interventions and develop more effective outreach
  • Work with units hosting youth programming to develop guidelines, documents and trainings to enhance youth protection
  • Providing resources to protect the civil rights of each individual
